In practicing the vision of reducing environmental impact, Bount has also adapted timely to changes, enhancing its organizational green productivity and international competitive advantage. We hope that with everyone's collective efforts, we can promote Bount in achieving its vision to reduce environmental impact, timely adapt to relevant changes, and enhance our green productivity and international competitive advantage.

Green House Gas Inventory

In response to the national greenhouse gas management policy and the global net-zero emissions issue, the company has independently initiated greenhouse gas inventory operations since 2023. By the fourth quarter of 2023, third-party verification of the Yilan Plant No. 2 was completed. The results of this inventory serve as the foundation for subsequent reduction plans and setting reduction targets. In the future, Bioteque Corporation will extend these efforts to the headquarters, all plant sites, and overseas plants, while further promoting product carbon footprints.

The company has set 2023 as the baseline year for the greenhouse gas inventory, with the following explanation: Although 2022 was the first year the company conducted an internal greenhouse gas inventory, which was verified by a third party, the baseline year was set to 2023 due to changes in the organizational boundaries. In 2023, the Taipei headquarters and the Yike plant were included in the inventory scope, which is why 2023 is designated as the baseline year for the greenhouse gas inventory.

The results of the 2023 greenhouse gas emissions inventory for the company's Taipei office, Yilan Plant No. 2, and Yike Plant show that for categories 1-2, CO2 emissions account for the highest proportion (94.53%), followed by CH4 emissions (1.58%). For categories 3-5, all emissions are CO2 (100.00%). The total greenhouse gas emissions from all plants amount to 13,614.628 metric tons of CO2e, as detailed in Table 4-8. There were no greenhouse gas removals in this inventory.

The results of the 2022 greenhouse gas emissions inventory for the company's Yilan Plant No. 2 show that for categories 1-2, CO2 emissions account for the highest proportion (95.67%), followed by HFCs emissions (3.63%). For categories 3-5, all emissions are CO2 (100.00%). The total greenhouse gas emissions from the plant amount to 13,589.952 metric tons of CO2e. There were no greenhouse gas removals in this inventory.

Biomass combustion emissions

The company did not use biomass combustion in both 2022 and 2023, and the biomass combustion emissions of carbon dioxide equivalent are 0 metric tons CO2e.

Other refrigerants

The company uses R22 and R600A refrigerants. Since R22 is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFCs) and R600A is isobutane (CH3), neither of which belongs to the seven major greenhouse gases, they are not included in the total emissions calculation.

External Verification

External verification activities were conducted on November 7, 2024, November 8, 2024, November 15, 2024, and November 22, 2024. According to the verification standards, categories 1 and 2 were assigned a reasonable assurance level, while categories 3 to 6 were assigned a limited assurance level. The materiality threshold for the company's greenhouse gas inventory is set at 5%.

Water Pollution Prevention and Control

Bioteque Corporation Yilan Branch(Yilan Plant 2) and Yike Plant are equipped with rainwater diversion systems and sewage treatment tanks. The wastewater is directed to the approved wastewater discharge outlets by the Yilan County Environmental Protection Bureau and discharged into the sewage system for centralized treatment. Additionally, BOD values are monitored quarterly to ensure compliance with the discharge standards, and regular cleaning or increased cleaning and transportation frequencies are implemented based on the monitoring results. Every six months, qualified testing agencies are commissioned to conduct wastewater quality analysis, and reports are submitted in accordance with regulations, all of which comply with the discharge standards.

Air Pollution Prevention and Control

Our company is classified as a fixed pollution source in public and private spaces. We implement the following measures to prevent and control air pollution:
‧ Plastic waste products generated during the manufacturing process are collected and disposed of by licensed operators.
‧ The granular pollutants and VOCs produced during plastic molding are released through the central air conditioning system and dispersed into the environment. Our plant has installed activated carbon adsorption filters in the processing equipment and air conditioning units, and regularly replaces the adsorption filters to achieve emission reduction.
‧ All forklifts in the plant are electric-powered.
‧ In 2020, the heavy oil boilers were entirely replaced with electric boilers.
‧ The Yike Plant has set up three fixed washing towers that use ozone micro-bubble treatment technology, with a total organic carbon removal efficiency 1.3 times higher than traditional methods.

Waste Management

Bioteque Corporation primarily generates three types of industrial waste: general industrial waste, hazardous industrial waste, and recyclables. General industrial waste and recyclables, which are essentially household waste, are uniformly handled by qualified clearing companies commissioned by the industrial zone. Hazardous industrial waste includes mixed waste plastics, mixed waste wood, and waste liquids with a flash point below 60°C, which are also handled with the assistance of qualified clearing companies.
